Benefit from Social Proof & PR

Power of PR

Are you taking advantage of the power of PR?

The way we access information and get inspiration has changed. Official sources such as traditional tourist boards are no-longer valued. Instead we turn to friends, valuing peer-to-peer tips. We use ideas gleaned from the internet, social media and the media. When a journalist writes about a place, it's seen as an external endorsement and can be very powerful.

In the North York Moors National Park we're fortunate that Amanda Brown works hard to generate media coverage for the destination through public relations' activities. She needs to know what you're up to, anything fresh or different you've introduced, any unusual aspects to your business. Sometimes you can get media coverage simply by knowing your area well. Amanda constantly looks out for opportunities to talk about local businesses in the media. She recently secured the opportunity for Ian and Jackie Berry, who own Town End Farm at Appleton-le-Moors to help with a feature on their nowledgeable insiders to write a feature on their recommendations of places to visit in Yorkshire Life magazine. This resulted in significant publicity for their accommodation as well as for other attractions and businesses such as Ryedale Folk Museum and the Fox and Hounds at Sinnington.

On a similar note Amanda helped Abbey Farm Cottage capitalize on a recent award win for their goats cheese by sending information out to the local press. Not only did the Gazette and Herald, and Yorkshire Post run a story about their win, but the piece was then shared online by other titles such as Northern Farmer and Scottish Farmer providing valuable backlinks to Abbey Farm’s website.
