Coastal Communities Funded Project: Moor to Sea

We are pleased to report that we have been successful in our application for Round 4 funding from the Coastal Communities Fund!

This new project, called Moor to Sea, is designed to further boost the tourism economy and extend the season by:
  • Highlighting the North York Moors Coast’s trods, trails and tracks to encourage use of sustainable transport
  • Creating new packages for niche, high growth sectors such as the celebrations’ market
  • Working with local people on collaborative product and business development
  • Making better use of recent (and planned future) infrastructure improvements

We recently held an event at Raithwaite Hall to kickstart the project. Here are the presentations from the event:

Catriona McLees - North York Moors National Park Authority - marketing and funding update

Mike Hawtin - North York Moors National Park Authority - outdoor activities

Susan Briggs - North York Moors Tourism Network - marketing and business support and product development

How to get involved

We'd like to work with tourism businesses along the North York Moors National Park's coast, from Saltburn to Cloughton and those around 10 miles inland who encourage their guests to visit the coast.

If you'd like to benefit from the project, please email Susan Briggs and include the following information: a) 3 lines about you and your business; b) What would you like to improve or achieve? c) Any ideas you already have, that you’d like advice on

Grants

Unfortunately CCF would not accept applications where funding might have been used for onward distribution of funds - such as using it to run a community grants scheme or provide grants to local businesses.

North York Moors National Park operates its own small tourism and local distinctiveness grant scheme for businesses located within the North York Moors, Coast & Hills area. Find out if your idea is eligible here.

The Coastal Communities Fund is funded by the Government, with income from the Crown Estate's marine assets.

The North York Moors Tourism Network is managed on a voluntary basis by Susan Briggs, Director of The Tourism Network Ltd, supported by Catriona McLees at North York Moors National Park Authority. Click here for more information
